Young children with learning difficulties are to benefit from a pound;25 million package of new measures. The money will pay to train specialist workers for primary schools who can identify children’s needs. It will also fund extra services to help experts to work at local authority level.
In nother government package, primary pupils with speech or language difficulties will be able to benefit from pound;10 million funding announced by schools minister Jacqui Smith. It will pay for equipment such as speech synthesisers, voice recognition systems and hand-held spell-checkers.
