Ditton junior school (TES Letters, April 14) became a grant-maintained school in September 1993.

Despite Martin Broadley’s cheap digs at the quality of the services provided by Kent County Council, your readers may be intrigued to know that his school chooses to purchase a number of LEA support services including payroll, personnel, curriculum and IT support, worth nearly Pounds 3,000 in 199495. I’ll settle for that as evidence of their quality.
