More men with feet in mouth

To Westminster, where the Campaign to Get More Women into Manual Labour has been in full swing, I hear.

The Commons education and skills select committee has been concerning itself with the lack of women in engineering.

The Engineering Employers Federation, or the EEF as it prefers to be called, attempted to blame careers advisers for failing the convince women of the benefits of the industry. Barry Sheerman, the committee’s chairman, interjected with an “oh come on” and invited employers to take the blame for failing to recruit women.

Martin Temple, EEF’s director general, thought he would help his case by telling the MPs he is chair of WISE - women into science and engineering.

Wrong!

A man as chairman?

Boy, that didn’t go down very well.
