More ‘rigorous’ teacher tests

Prospective teachers in England will have to reach the equivalent standard of a GCSE grade B in new English and maths tests in order to enter the profession, the Westminster government has announced. Candidates will also be tested on their verbal and numerical reasoning as part of reforms to professional skills tests.
