All Year 7 pupils eligible for the Assembly government’s school uniform grant scheme will have a pound;2.50 increase in 20078, it was announced by education minister Jane Hutt last week. Low-income families who apply are now entitled to a grant of pound;97.50 per child. In all, pound;770,000 has been provided. Ms Hutt said: “Buying new school uniforms when children start secondary school can prove costly.”
