Most governors are dedicated

Does Mike Kent reveal his true view of governors in his dismissive comments on their role at annual general meetings (TES, December 3)? His observations may be accurate for some schools but most certainly not for all.

At the small primary of which I am a governor, the report was written and prepared by the chair and another governor (yes, with headteacher input), run off and distributed by our school secretary. We had a full turn-out of governors at the meeting and most questions were answered by our chair. If governors at schools in which he is involved “don’t know much about the running of the school” then they are derelict in their duties but this is definitely not the case across the board.
