MPs cannot compare

It was with some concern that I read the article “Principals told to help 3Rs in schools”, (FE Focus, January 27).

One would assume that MPs can interpret raw data and not attempt to make direct comparisons between two disparate groups.

Post-16 students have different motivations to those of school children.

There is no legal compulsion to attend, therefore the motivations will generally be intrinsic as opposed to extrinsic. Colleges have no uniform policies, have no need of exclusion rooms, behaviour bases or discipline systems.

Perhaps it is the credentials of this committee which should be under scrutiny, both for competency and agenda.
