Why does it come as no surprise that MPs rate the arts so low in the national curriculum? (“No chance of MPs trumpeting music, finds poll”, 1 April.)
How fortunate, then, that there are 200,000-plus students taking art and design GCSE this summer, and thus the next generation of politicians (and also many potential senior managers) may have some understanding of the value of the arts in our society.
