Museums ask for IT cash;In brief

DIRECTORS of the nation’s major museums have called for pound;55 million over the next three years to transform museums and galleries into new lifelong learning centres with information technology.

The National Museum Directors’ Conference calculates that 400 museums should provide digital services on their premises and online by 2002. By 2007 all museums should play a full part in the National Grid for Learning.
