It’s good to see politicians practise the art of brevity. Asked by Labour backbencher Irene Oldfather what importance the Scottish Executive places on musical activity in schools, Education Minister Peter Peacock stated:

“Music is an important part of every child’s education and has a very firm place in the curriculum.” Period.

We hope Maggi Allan’s national curriculum review team has taken this on board.
