The music business is a subject on which pupils can often be better informed than their teachers. A stimulating curriculum resource pack called The Music Industry brings both generations together in penetrating the gossip and glamour surroundidng stars such as Madonna (above). It comprises a 12-week work scheme, adaptable for GCSE and above, particularly for media studies, which ranges from the history of hip hop and theantecedents of indie bands to image creation and distribution. There are opportunities for both research and simulation in an area where marketing and advertising play as important a role as artistic imagination.

The pack costs pound;30.99 (incl. pamp;p) from film and media resources, 29 Risingholme Road, Harrow, Middlesex HA3 7EP. Email: info@film-media-resources.co.uk Website: www.film-media-resources.co.uk
