Your article (“Interference may drown out music”, TES, March 27) repeats as fact the claim that the Government has made music “optional” in primary schools. We have not. We have allowed teachers greater flexibility in its teaching to allow a clearer concentration on the 3Rs, but they must continue to teach it.
