More than 18,000 primary school children from disadvantaged areas will pack the Royal Albert Hall tonight to hear live music performed by young people.

Sponsored by The TES and organised by Music for Youth, the Primary Proms will include music ranging from traditional Jewish songs and Brazilian carnival to modern percussion and jazz. There will be similar free events in Birmingham and Chester.
