The fridge hums in time with the rain Splattering on the window.

Tacky magnets arranged artistically on the door, Inside the dull light casts shadows On last night’s pizza, The mouldy yoghurts sit at the back, Clingfilm-covered sweetcorn stares At the minced beef.

The over-packaged foods fill each shelf, Greens and reds brightening the sterile walls, Beer bottles lined up like soldiers Standing to attention as the milk carton Inspects their silver labelled uniforms.
