What I’m reading

The Book of Tomorrow

By Cecilia Ahern

I love books that make you completely escape from reality. Some of Cecilia Ahern’s books are sad, but they are just very easy to read. It is refreshing to read something that takes you away from the everyday. Before you go to bed, it is good to spend 30 minutes reading a very light story. Your mind can unload and wind down before you go to sleep.

The book I loved as a child

The Faraway Tree

By Enid Blyton

I read all the Enid Blyton books but The Faraway Tree series was my favourite. I was about nine or 10 years old when I first read them, and they were just fun and exciting. There was always an adventure. I used to wish I were one of those characters, living out their adventures. My grandma and granddad had a wood at the back of their house and I used to think it would be so wonderful if I could find a tree like that there.

Read this before you die

The Harry Potter series

By JK Rowling

Someone recommended these to me when I was about 16 years old. I laughed and said: “Oh, they’re children’s books. I’m not reading those.” But I borrowed the first one, and I was immediately hooked. I think I read it in a couple of days. It’s the suspense: what’s going to happen next? And you can relate to the characters, despite the fact that it is a different world. I started reading them when I was still at school, and I always wished my school could be like Hogwarts. I still do: it would be nice to teach one of those classes.
