Books

Reading for enjoyment is sometimes restricted due to university being hectic, especially around exam time. At high school I really enjoyed the Harry Potter series, which kept me gripped and eager to find out what would happen to Harry, Ron and Hermione. I quite like autobiographies. Michael McIntyre’s is full of jokes and tales about his life when he was struggling to get into comedy - his grandma sounds like a real character. My Bible is a book which I read daily and could not go without. One of my favourite verses is from the Book of Philippians, about how we should not worry about anything but pray to God for help and support. Something for me to bear in mind when writing assignments before Christmas.

Music

I like quite a lot of different songs from different artists and listen to quite a lot of Christian bands. My iPod albums include Kings of Leon, Hillsong United, MercyMe, the Parachute Band, YFriday, Casting Crowns, The Script and so on.

TV

Even though my evenings are filled with re-writing lecture notes and frantically highlighting quotes from readings for assignments, I still try to fit in some time for TV on the rare occasion. Doc Martin and Educating Essex are good break fillers, as are Poirot and Midsomer Murders. Comedy shows are a must-watch, especially old ones which you rarely get to see on TV now: French and Saunders, 2point4 Children, Dad’s Army, The Good Life, Open All Hours and not forgetting One Foot in the Grave.

Film

I don’t really have a favourite but like quite a lot of films which are action-packed and have a story behind them that you have to work out, like the 007 series. Ice Age and Cheaper by the Dozen are worth watching if you like comedies.
