Gemma Wilcox, 17, has just finished her A-levels at North Westminster Community School, London
I’ve got loads of plans for the summer. I’ve just finished doing my A-levels in English literature, theatre studies and Spanish and I’m taking a year off before I go to university.
I’m going on holiday to Cornwall with my boyfriend and his parents for a couple of weeks. Then I’m going to Tipperary in Ireland for a week with my dad and auntie.
When I come back I’ve definitely got to get a job because I’ve got no money. Hopefully I’ll get a job in a bookshop. I worked in one for about a year but it closed. I didn’t want to get a job while I was at school, especially near the end, because I had to revise. If I get a job I also hope to go abroad with three girlfriends.
When it’s nice weather I love going to the heart of London. I like being in Covent Garden just walking around in the early evening when it’s buzzing.
Now that the holidays are here I can read all the books that I’ve been dying to read for years - Persuasion to start with. I hope to go to a few museums as well, especially the new Earth Galleries at the Natural History Museum.
Travel is what I really want to do. I’m looking forward to exploring different places. I think my year out will help me to make more of a decision about what I want to do.
But if I don’t get the marks to go to Leeds University I haven’t got a clue what I’ll do. They want A, B, B. I don’t know whether to retake my exams or just to try to get into another university. I’ll just have to wait to see what happens.
