THE NATIONAL Association for Primary Education and the Pre-School Learning Alliance have added to the growing dissent over Government plans for an early years curriculum. NAPE, which represents thousands of primary schools nationwide, claims early learning goals for the youngest children could put both teachers and parents under pressure to “push children beyond their stage of development”. The PLA accuse ministers of marginalising play, which could damage children’s development.
