Napier University has increased its toehold in the FE sector by announcing another collaborative venture, this time with Fife College in Kirkcaldy. An agreement signed last week will allow Fife students to move from higher national certificate and diploma courses to take Napier degrees. Course development, staff training and consultancy work will also be shared.

Fife says the latest move does not cut across its existing partnership with the University of Abertay under which it runs four degree courses validated by Abertay: BA leisure management, BSc environmental chemical analysis, BA management, and BA learning difficulties and disabilities.

Joyce Johnston, principal of Fife College, says the agreement with Napier should increase “the flexibility, quality, and job relevance of our courses”.

John Mavor, Napier’s principal, says the move will not only lead to greater benefits for students but also to more opportunities for staff development and innovative teaching.
