Teachers in Scotland still have time to sign up for the free National Grid for Learning Day at the Fusion 2000 Global Learning Summit, which starts in Glasgow next week.

The learning day is one of many events taking place at the conference on September 26-29 at the Scottish Exhibtion and Conference Centre.

Teachers can sign up for one of the four keynote sessions and two seminars during the day, which runs from 9am-3.30pm. Keynote speakers include Stephen Heppell from Ultralab, who will be looking at how to empower learning through ICT, and Seymour Papert, the Lego Chair of Learning and Research at the Massachussets Institute of Technology, who will be explaining how children learn with ICT.

There are 40 seminars tochoose from, covering subjects including language-learning and ICT, science online, compact teaching devices, best ICT practice in schools and using multimedia to create learning resources. Many of these sessions will be run by teachers and pupils.

Teachers can also visit the Lifelong Learning Exhibition and the Family Learning Show, which will showcase some of the technology that can bridge the gap between home and school.

National Grid for Learning Day has been organised by National Grid for Learning Scotland and is open to Scottish teachers only. For booking information call 0141 337 5000. For details of speakers and seminars, visit the Fusion website at www.fusion-2000.com.
