To mark National Poetry Day in October, the Scottish Book Trust is hunting for budding primary and secondary school-age bards.

Last year more than 20 per cent of Scottish schools used packs of eight poetry postcards produced by the Trust and the Post Office to support their own National Poetry Day activities. This year children’spoetry will feature on the cards and more than half a million will be distributed to Scottish schools.

Each poem must be no more than 12 lines and all the child’s own work. The closing date for entries is June 15. For entry forms contact NPD 2001 Competition, Scottish Book Trust, 137 Dundee Street, Edinburgh, EH11 1BG
