Letters from Karl Marx, Benjamin Franklin and Isambard Kingdom Brunel, and a drawing by the 10-year-old Edwin Landseer will be among the treasures of the Royal Society of Arts available for study on the Internet, following a Pounds 700,000 award from the Heritage Lottery Fund.

The grant will help to catalogue electronically the 250-year history of the society.
