YOUNG people in Grampian now have 24-hour access to careers advice with the launch of a website called grampiancareers.com, which offers a step-by-step guide to creating an individual action plan and CV.

There are tips on interview styles and information on initiatives such as Skillseekers, obtaining benefits and preparing for a “gap year”. Launching the site, Wendy Alexander, Minister for Communities praised its “joined-up thinking” and strong local focus.

Among the first “visitors” were Marie and Emma Dobson, formerly of Dyce Academy, Aberdeen. “It provided me with a list of courses relating to fitness and sports and also the relevant e-mail contacts for further information,” Marie said.

Emma discovered lots of information on child care abroad, “which is what I’m interested in”.
