A service for teachers to help them prepare students for the world of work will be launched on Monday as part of wider efforts to improve careers advice.

The Partner Zone, developed by Skills Development Scotland (SDS), will offer resources to teachers to support students in planning their careers, writing CVs and preparing for interviews.

The initiative - which will be part of the My World of Work website - has been designed in line with Curriculum for Excellence.

The launch follows a pilot project with six secondaries across Scotland. SDS has worked with a principal teacher of personal, social and health education from Our Lady’s High in Motherwell and other subject experts to produce the information on the site.

Damien Yeates, chief executive of SDS, said that the planning had also involved working with students to design classroom-based materials. An extension of the scheme to other partners working with young people is planned.
