New deal for schools

A TOTAL of 17,000 English schools have already received money to improve their buildings under the Government’s New Deal for Schools programme, education minister Jacqui Smith said this week. In response to a question from Labour MP Clive Efford, Mrs Smith said tha the pound;8.5 billion allocated over the next three years will enable 650 schools to be replaced or completely refurbished and improvements to be made to more than 7,000 schools.
