The Girls’ Schools Association (GSA) has named its new president for 2010. Gillian Low, head of The Lady Eleanor Holles School in Richmond-upon-Thames, will take over from Jill Berry in the new year. Mrs Low, who started her career at a mixed comprehensive in Ruislip, was previously head of Francis Holland School in Chelsea. She said: “I am delighted to have the opportunity to represent GSA this coming year. Recent debate on single-sex schooling has served to highlight the outstanding contribution that girls’ schools make to the education of young women in this country.”
