(Photograph) - As the funding council was distributing the Scottish Executive’s largesse to colleges, First Minister Jack McConnell was marking tangible evidence of it by officially opening the new pound;16 million St Brycedale campus of Fife College in Kirkcaldy.
The project involved the demolition of a 1960s campus to provide new facilities, atrium space, beauty and hairdressing salons, two dance studios, a fitness suite, teaching kitchens, a training restaurant, office space, art workshops, a threatre space, a large sports hall, an enterprise zone and a learning centre and library.
Joyce Johnston, Fife College’s principal, said it was “an amazing building which is enabling students, businesses and the community to benefit from a learning environment which is second to none.”
The new building was financed by the Scottish Further Education Funding Council, Scottish Arts Council lottery funding and the European Regional Development Fund.
