Caroline St John-Brooks is to be the next Editor of The Times Educational Supplement. She will succeed Patricia Rowan, who is to retire at the end of April.

Dr St John-Brooks was Assistant Editor of The TES from 1990-1994.

For the last three years she has worked at the Centre for Educational Research and Innovation in the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development in Paris, where she has researched and written a series of international reports on What Works in Innovation in Education.

She was previously education correspondent for New Society, and editor of The Sunday Times Education Forum.

Married with two children, Caroline St John-Brooks was educated at Thornbury Grammar School, Gloucestershire, and Trinity College, Dublin.

She has a PhD in Education from the University of Bristol.
