Newcomers lack love action

Contributors on the the TES online staffroom are complaining that they are finding it tough to combine an NQT's workload with the social life needed to meet a partner. One teacher wrote: "I split up with my boyfriend because of the pressures of the PGCE, thinking it would all be worth it. For what? The only eligible male I get to meet on a regular basis is the school cleaner."

Even if prospective partners do arrive on the scene, they are not always sympathetic. Another teacher wrote: "It's difficult to meet people who've got any idea what the job is like. I feel I could only go out with a teacher, but there are no eligible teachers in my school."
