CANADA: Video and web cameras have no place in nurseries and kindergartens, says the Quebec human rights commission, in an opinion which sets the state apart from many in America where cameras have become commonplace. Watching day-care workers at all times violates a worker’s expectation of privacy enshrined in Quebec’s human rights charter, says the commission. its ruling cited both the UN convention on the rights of the child and the privacy guarantees of Canada’s charter of rights and freedoms.
