No borders for recruitment

I am a recruitment strategy manager of a small, inner-city London borough.

In response to Susan Sakali’s letter, “Think Greek to solve recruitment” (TES, August 15) I would point out that if there are many English-speaking Greek teachers wanting to work in this country, there is nothing to stop them looking at The TES website and applying by email.

I doubt UK heads are systematically discriminating against Greek teachers, as Ms Sakali seems to imply. However, we also have this year an unprecedented number of talented newly qualified teachers. In order to give them the best start, they need to be supported by experienced London teachers with in-depth knowledge of the UK system. I would suggest many colleagues are concentrating on recruiting such teachers.
