WITH reference to Peter Clark’s book in which recollections are attributed to me I would point out that despite appearances to the contrary, we did not collaborate in its preparation.
Peter Clark and I have not had any communication since a chance meeting early in 1997 and as he did not contact me to verify the contents, a number of inaccuracies in both detail and fact inevitably appeared in the text.
While I have no reason to defend any of the persistent “journalists” who picketed my front door, in fairness I must say that I have never been offered any financial incentives by The Sunday Times.
