members attacked a further plank of the Government’s standards-raising agenda by declaring outright opposition to Fresh Start schemes for failing schools and backing divisions which take industrial action over job losses. The move was led by London’s Lewisham branch, which has already held an indicative ballot over Hatcham Wood School where a fresh start is due in September. Six teachers face compulsory redundancy.
