HOW about this morale-boosting idea for the new century? A colleague returns from Dodge City in the United States with news of the Kansas Teachers Hall of Fame.

It’s just downstairs from the Famous Gunfighters Wax Musem (Wyatt Earp, Doc Holliday) and stuffed with mementoes of those who “devoted their lives to this fine profession” (sadly no waxworks). Forget Oscars. Teachers want respect on a par with gunslingers and killers.
