North-eastern college principle asked to take “garden leave”

Meanwhile, the principal of a north-eastern college has been asked to take “garden leave” while a number of “concerns” are investigated.

Lynne Howes, principal of Redcar and Cleveland College, agreed to stop going into work lat month. A decision to suspend her was lifted after an appeal.

David Stevenson, clerk to the governors, said that the allegations arose from “certain concerns that have been expressed about the principal’s conduct”.
