An Enniskillen primary school has been named the best-kept school in Northern Ireland.

Jones Memorial Primary School in Mullylogan, Enniskillen, won the Northern Ireland Amenity Council’s (NIAC) Best of the Best award for the second year in a row.

The school puts its success down to its wormery, where worms are fed leftovers from school lunches. The 200 pupils also help to maintain ladybird towers and hedgehog houses, as well as plots of strawberries, herbs, beetroots and tomatoes.

NIAC president Doreen Muskett paid tribute to the school’s sculptures, which are made from recycled everyday objects such as prams and old bicycles. She said that teachers managed to combine opportunities to learn about nature with projects that help protect wildlife. mr.
