Not deprived

With reference to your article (TESS, March 8) about the increasing numbers of students going on to further and higher education in Barr-head High School, East Renfrewshire, I am a sixth-year pupil at this school and appear in the photograph accompanying the article.

Whereas I found the article to be extremely favourable, I was shocked that on your webpage our school was described as “deprived”. have found this not the case but simply a reputation that has become a stereotype.

I have four older sisters who attended this school and I feel they have been anything but deprived: each of them went on to university. The school has undergone major improvements, but there have been and will always be good teaching standards.
