LET US applaud this Government for its imagination in committing pound;180 million for schools music over the next few years.

January 27, 1999 will be remembered as the day that the decline in schools music-making over the past 12 years turned a corner.

The message the Department for Education and Employment has sent out is simple and clear - nurturing the creative and cultural life of our children is just as important as the 3Rs.
