Hay fever sufferers are 40 per cent more likely to drop a grade between their mock and final GCSE exams, a new study has found. The figure rises to 70 per cent if they are taking certain anti-histamine treatments.

GCSE exams, running from mid-May to the end of June, coincide with the height of the grass pollen season, when hay fever is most likely to hit.
