A new sculpture, created by students with the help of professional sculptor Clare Tupman, has been unveiled at Buckler’s Mead Community School in Yeovil.

Outdoor space at St Margaret’s CofE Primary School in Halstead, Essex, is to be revamped with the help of a #163;4,000 development grant from shade sails company Keep It Kool. The cash - top prize in a competition run by the firm - will be spent on a large canopy, creating an external classroom.

Fiveways Play Centre near Brighton, which has been housed in temporary prefabricated buildings for the last 34 years, is to be transformed into an #163;820,000 eco-friendly nursery with a new Sure Start centre.

Salford Watersports Centre has been awarded a Learning Outside the Classroom Quality Badge. The badge scheme is part of the Government’s #163;4.5 million Out and About initiative, which provides guidance for teachers on how to plan activities. Staff at the centre said they were “thrilled” to get official recognition.
