Year 9 students at Thistley Hough High School in Penkhull, Stoke on Trent, have written and performed a dystopian play set in the immediate future. The audience interrogated the characters to discover more about the issues, and voted on keypads on the rights and wrongs of the heroine’s actions.

The winner of the second East Anglian Schools Portrait Prize is 17-year-old Helen Higgins, from Norwich High School for Girls, who scooped first prize with this portrait of her mother.

Fourteen students from Bebington High Sports College visited RAF Cosford in Shropshire to enhance their understanding of the air force, and to take part in a “low ropes challenge”. An RAF outreach team has worked with the school for three years.

Newcastle upon Tyne Church High School friends Meghan and Maia Welch and Anna and Georgia Richardson were so shocked by images of the Pakistan floods that they took their paint brushes on a camping trip and painted stones, before selling them and raising over #163;100 for aid.

Pupils from Little Ilford School in east London and their MP Stephen Timms delivered a film to Number 10 Downing Street. It protests against the axing of Building Schools for the Future.
