Pupils enjoy a spot of target practice on Matthew Adshead, head of the Old Vicarage School in Darley Abbey, Derby, which stayed open during the heavy snowfall.

Squirrel Nutkin opens the Nutkins Nursery at Kingshott Preparatory School in Hitchin, a purpose-built facility for children aged three and over.

Primary school children explore London’s Grand Union and Regent’s canals aboard The Floating Classroom. The On the Waterfront project teaches children about the history of the local area and helps them develop the stories into short films, presented at a special premiere.

More than 500 children from local primary and special educational needs schools take part in a free ice-skating event in Cambridge.
