St Mary’s RC First School in Swanage, Dorset, celebrates its Eco- Schools Green Flag award (left). Year 4 pupils then travelled to London to share their success with penpals at St Anne’s RC Primary in Vauxhall (above). Together they walked into London for some sightseeing and a well- earned picnic in St James’s Park.

Performers raise the roof as part of the Hackney Schools Music Festival. More than 4,000 pupils from across the east London borough took part.

Eighteen primaries in Uckfield, East Sussex take part in the Uckfield Mini Grand Prix, with pupils racing in kit cars built by Year 6 children. Money raised was donated to the East African famine.

Fort Pitt Grammar in Chatham, Kent, scooped the pound;8,000 prize in the Water Design Challenge run by Southern Water and the Design Council, which aims to inspire youngsters to cut their water usage and carbon footprint. Fort Pitt’s entry showed how the school could reduce water used in the school toilets by a third, saving pound;5,000 a year.
