Safety and autism

To promote her forthcoming book about safety for women with autistic spectrum disorders (to be published by Jessica Kingsley Publishers), Robyn Steward will be embarking on a continuing professional development tour. Virtually University

Aimed at sixth formers, Virtually University is a free video-conferencing initiative set up by Bedford School with the University of Sheffield and access charity the Sutton Trust to inspire and inform higher education choices. The Impact of the First World War, a conference with professor Joanna Bourke of Birkbeck, University of London, will take place on 8 March.

SEN exam assistance

The Joint Council for Qualifications has announced that pupils with learning difficulties such as dyslexia, who typically find exam conditions challenging, can now use text-to-speech software - for example, ReadWrite GOLD from Texthelp - in all exams, even when reading is being assessed. World Book Day
