A seminar sounds good
Gallions Primary School in London is inviting headteachers and senior staff to a free seminar it is hosting in partnership with Oxford University Press to help raise standards in English literacy and language for Years 2-6. The event will take place on 24 April from 1.30-4pm. Speaker Ruth Miskin will address the new primary curriculum, the grammar, spelling and punctuation test and the latest Ofsted framework. Language awards
The British Academy is offering a series of awards to UK schools and colleges to recognise excellence in language learning. The focus this year is on activity that encourages students to take language study to advanced and degree level. A total of 15 awards of #163;4,000 each will be distributed to successful applicants across the UK.

Schindler’s List anniversary
Monday 8 April is the 20th anniversary of Oscar-winning film Schindler’s List. The film tells the story of Oskar Schindler, who saved the lives of more than 1,000 mostly Polish-Jewish refugees during the Holocaust. Educate students about the Holocaust with this TES collection of free teaching resources.

911 schools competition
The 911 London Project is offering students aged 14-16 the chance to win a trip to New York this September, which will include a visit to the 911 Memorial. All students have to do is tell the panel either how 911 changed the world or how they would keep the memory of 911 alive in the UK.
