The Physical Education Association of UK’s annual conference will be at the National Motorcycle Museum, Solihull, Birmingham, on June 21. It will explore best practice research scholarships under the themes “continuity and progression” and “assessment for learning”. The programme includes presentations, workshops and the launch of PEAUK’s Observing Children Moving materials.

Sport increases children’s confidence and promotes respect for self and others. To promote good team spirit, primary schools are invited to organise a fair play day during the week beginning June 30 and at the same time raise funds for the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children’s full stop campaign. Prizes include a visit from top sporting personalities such as footballer Trevor Sinclair and a fair play shield. A teachers’ activity pack has been produced by the Youth Sport Trust.

Schools are supplied with professional quality kit through the Kit4schools project set up by former England footballer John Scales. The scheme is supported by a number of companies including PlayStation, Sport Business and LG Electronics. Schools register their details and can track the highs and lows of their favourite teams and submit match reports and pictures.
