The next UNICEF"Day for Change" will take place on February 6 on the theme of "Water". It will focus on children in Ghana, where there is not enough safe water to drink, and Vietnam, where flooding causes many child deaths.

People to People International (PTPI) pairs teachers and students with similar-age classes in other countries. Popular in the US, the School and Classroom Programme is now being extended to Europe. Classes work together on projects ranging from correspondence and artwork to comparing the two countries' financial systems. The working language is primarily English.

AWARDS

There is still time for nominations for the Philip Lawrence Awards, which recognise outstanding achievement in good citizenship by young people aged 11-20.
