BEAM Education runs courses covering foundation to key stage 2. Most are in London but some are in Leeds. The autumn programme includes raising achievement in KS1 maths, an introduction to the management of maths in your school, an introduction to using computers in KS2 maths, making inclusion work in maths in the primary school, and supporting your low-attaining children in KS2 maths . Fee per course: pound;120 plus VAT.

“Maths takes shape” is the theme of the next Mathematical Association annual conference at York University, from April 13 to 16. Speakers will include Professor Ian Stewart FRS, Warwick University, Dr David Acheson, fellow in maths at Jesus College, Oxford, and Rob Eastaway, a mathematical writer and performer. “Mathematics is not a spectator sport” is the theme of the next Association of Teachers of Mathematics conference at Loughborough University, from April 5 to 8.
