The British Educational and Communications Technology Agency’s ICT advice department runs events in partnership with subject associations. Coming up is a conference co-organised by the Historical Association on improving the teaching and learning of history using ICT, at Lincoln School of Science and Technology, October 18. An online inset on ICT as a subject will take place October 21-23, and a conference co-organised by the National Association of Advisers for Computers in Education will be held at the Riviera Centre, Torquay, October 22. ICT supplier Promethean is taking its free Effective Practice roadshow to Glasgow, Dundee, Durham, Manchester, London, Birmingham, Cardiff, Bristol and Belfast in November. Workshops in Scotland and Northern Ireland will demonstrate how primary and secondary teachers can maximise their “ACTIVboard” usage; those in England and Wales are for primary teachers only (a secondary roadshow is planned for spring 2004).
