Psychology for Soccer Level 1, the Football Association’s first online course, is designed for coaches, parents and teachers of children aged seven to 12 who are interested in understanding the needs of young football players. Comprising five modules and featuring “true to life” player, coach and parent scenarios, combined with audio and video technology, the course takes around 20 hours to complete. Three months’

Premier Soccer, launched five years ago in East Anglia, runs free coaching sessions for pupils in three age groups in 500 schools across nine English counties every week. It also runs specialised Advanced Centre Coaching sessions, which offer the most promising young players a trial with a professional club. It is now expanding its activities throughout the rest of the UK.
